Residence permit
A residence permit is issued to foreign citizens and stateless persons for a period of up to five years according to the period of the documents giving the right to cross the state border of Turkmenistan.
The residence permit is affixed with photographs of 25 and 45 years of age, as well as with a reference to minor children.
Foreign citizens and stateless persons who have obtained a residence permit in Turkmenistan arrive in Turkmenistan without obtaining a visa and stay there provided they have documents that give them the right to cross the state border of Turkmenistan. A residence permit in Turkmenistan gives the right to cross the state border of Turkmenistan multiple times.
Foreign citizens and stateless persons who are temporarily staying in Turkmenistan and wish to obtain a residence permit in Turkmenistan must submit a request addressed to the President of Turkmenistan through the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan.
Foreign citizens who have reached the age of 18 and are of full legal capacity, as well as stateless persons, can apply for a residence permit in Turkmenistan.
In order to obtain a residence permit, you must meet one of the following criteria:
- nationality is Turkmen;
- married to a citizen of Turkmenistan;
- close relatives residing in Turkmenistan who are Turkmen citizens (spouse, father and mother, grandparents, parents, brother, sister, children, including adopted children, grandchildren); registration of guardianship and custody of Turkmen citizens in accordance with the established procedure;
- Investment in the economy of Turkmenistan in the amount of at least 500 thousand US dollars;
- Have high qualifications in various fields, as well as great achievements in science, culture, art and sports and be able to use them in the interests of Turkmenistan;
- Be citizens of CIS countries or stateless persons who were registered in Turkmenistan before the introduction of visa regime with CIS countries.
- Foreign citizens and stateless persons may apply for a residence permit after living in the territory of Turkmenistan for at least two years.
- A residence permit can be issued to parents or one of them. This also applies to children under the age of 16 (including adopted children).
- After turning 16, children whose parents have a Residence Permit must apply for a Residence Permit within 6 (six) months.
- A foreign citizen, stateless person applies to the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan to extend the period of residence permit.
The residence permit is replaced in these cases
- if the identity document of a foreign citizen or stateless person is changed or changes are made to that document as a result of the change of personal data;
- when an inaccuracy is discovered in the records;
- when unusable;
- when you run out of pages available for bookmarks.
- when a person's fingerprints or facial features change due to health or other circumstances.
- List of documents required to obtain a residence permit
- The residence permit is issued for a period of 5 (five) years.
- The residence permit is not a travel document.
- A residence permit costs 45 manats.
